Nothing happened. You were just reading.   <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is called doom scrolling\u2014compulsively consuming bad news one after another. In 2026, it&#8217;s no longer a pathology but the default mode of the average person with a phone in hand. The question isn&#8217;t even &#8220;do you do this,&#8221; but &#8220;how many hours a day.&#8221;  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why your brain chose this<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The brain hates uncertainty. When there&#8217;s instability all around\u2014war, economy, climate, another Musk sensation\u2014it seeks information to &#8220;control the situation.&#8221; The algorithm knows this better than you do. It feeds you more. And more. And more.     <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every anxiety-inducing headline is a small dose of cortisol. You think you&#8217;re &#8220;keeping your finger on the pulse.&#8221; In reality, your nervous system is living in a state of slow overload. You pay for it with sleep, concentration, mood, and how you look at loved ones in the evening\u2014through a glass of exhaustion.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The worst part is that it masquerades as responsibility. &#8220;I need to know what&#8217;s happening in the world.&#8221; No, you don&#8217;t. Not that much. Not three hours a day.   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What the numbers show<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 2026 study: people who scroll through bad news for more than two hours a day have 2.5 times higher anxiety levels than those who limit themselves to thirty minutes. Elevated cortisol, disrupted sleep, tachycardia from a tweet, headaches from push notifications. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Young people who spend more than five hours a day on social media show the lowest life satisfaction scores\u2014according to the World Happiness Report 2026. The paradox: an environment created to connect has become one of the main sources of loneliness and anxiety. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You don&#8217;t become smarter from this. You don&#8217;t become a better citizen. You become someone who at 2 a.m. reads comments under someone else&#8217;s argument about geopolitics and thinks tomorrow you&#8217;ll definitely go to bed earlier.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to get out without going into the woods<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You don&#8217;t need to delete all social media. That&#8217;s a beautiful gesture that lasts four days. What works is simpler:  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Set a time limit.<\/strong> 20 minutes in the morning, 20 in the evening. That&#8217;s it. If something truly important happens during the day\u2014someone will tell you. Always.   <\/li>\n<li><strong>Remove push notifications from news apps and Twitter\/X.<\/strong> None. The world won&#8217;t lose anything while you&#8217;re not looking. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t take your phone to bed.<\/strong> You don&#8217;t run to the bedroom with a laptop to check the news, do you? So why is it okay with a phone? <\/li>\n<li><strong>Create a physical barrier.<\/strong> Move your phone from your pocket to your bag. Simple friction reduces the number of &#8220;automatic&#8221; openings by half. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Replace scrolling with something hands-on.<\/strong> Make coffee. Wash a dish. Step outside for five minutes. Boring? That&#8217;s exactly why it works.    <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This isn&#8217;t about &#8220;becoming better.&#8221; It&#8217;s about reclaiming two hours of your life a day\u2014and your normal pulse along with it. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">POHUY as an answer<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The POHUY philosophy is simple: you&#8217;re not obligated to react to everything thrown at you. Strength is choosing where to invest your attention. Because attention is your only non-renewable currency. Everything else can be earned, returned, restored.
